Homework seemed to pile up when you ditched class some of the time. Of course it didn’t matter for a ravenclaw student they had the ability to study hard all the time. Of course there were a few who didn’t really study hard but still had good grades. It was for the seventh year prefect who decided ditching class on his final year of school was a good idea. Though for various reasons he found himself becoming bored with the homework as everyone had gone to bed. He skipped his duties for the night to finish up his homework that he was assigned to do with in two days from all his classes that he ditched. Malachi wore his uniform shirt and a pair of jeans. He sat in the corner next to the fire thinking how cold it was becoming outside with winter upon the school. Soon a blanket of white would take over and holiday was coming up. It was really his first year he was actually going to stay at the school and not go home to see his parents or his other family. He sighed a little as he set down the quill realizing he was the only one in the commons area now.
Chi leaned over grabbing his acoustic guitar and pulling it over his lap. Oh how this guitar brought a lot of things for him. It was a gift from his mother, before she died. He had for years and always tuned and played it as much as he could. With school homework, he never seemed to really get to play it much when homework piled up. Which, was something he should have been doing at that moment but of course Malachi was procrastinating the whole thing. He started to wonder where Ben was; almost figuring that he wasn’t in the commons area or in bed. It made the prefect curious to find his best friend only because he hadn’t seen him in a few weeks. It seemed that either one thing was happening chi was really vanishing outside a ton. That and he was ditching the school and hanging sometimes down at hogsmead. He sighed knowing his little adventures was ending because of school only had so much left after the holidays and he needed to focus as much as he could. Focus though, was something the ravenclaw student lacked for the most part. He couldn’t ever focus long enough on anything except his guitar. “Ok Chi… needing focus on homework not guitar.” He whispered to himself. Knowing if anyone figured out what he was saying they’d probably find him a little bit more insane then what they thought before. Then there was his friends who probably would laugh at him because of the fact he was being dumb and waiting to the last minute to do his homework. He started writing one of his scrolls for potions. Oh how he knew to get out of making potions. He heard footsteps coming into the commons area, knowing someone entered in the room with him.

Ben was furious. And he wasn’t easily angered, so that was saying something. He wanted to stomp around and mash things but he was much too exhausted for that. It was the end of the day, and he had some particularly difficult classes, not helped by his tendency to daydream about Tori Abercrombie. At least he was actually going to try to make it up, unlike some people. He trod wearily up the tower stairs, very very ready to sit in his favorite chair and work until the morning. Just get all the homework until the holidays done, so he have some free time for extracurricular work, especially Quidditch. Yaxley probably finally realized that Ben had absolutely no passion for the sport, but there was no way the captain was going to let Ben goof when they played against Gryffindor, a match that kept getting rescheduled because... something about the weather. It was terrible, snow was falling almost every night, and the airy Ravenclaw common room was freezing most of the time. Of course, it didn’t effect the vampire, but watching people sniffle their snot back into their noses was disgusting.
He answered Rowena’s riddle with more though than usual, his brain seemed especially sluggish this evening. He trundled into the common room with his heavy leather bag, and nearly stumbled into the very person he wished to see. “Malachi,
” he said in a flat voice. “ We need to talk,” The seventh year prefect was his friend, but he was a lot more reckless than Ben. Malachi drank and smoked cigarettes, and he didn’t give a fuck. Ben only drank when he was really, really sad. Chi liberally skipped class, but Ben didn’t think he could live with himself if he ever did that. The only thing that really bound them was that they were both vampires. But Chi was much more open about that then Ben was. And herein lay the problem. He had heard it though the grapevine that Chi had told Toire Weasley that he was a vampire. He and Toire had... had something almost a year ago, and she didn’t have any idea that Ben was a vampire. So basically Chi had broken the unspoken vampire rule. Resting his hands in his palm, he said “ Sorry, are you busy? Homework?” He leaned back a little, willing to give Chi some space. Ravenclaws valued schoolwork, after all. “ I mean, no. No! This can’t wait! Why’d you tell her, Malachi?” He wrung his hands, and pulled out his books and quill from his bag. Maybe doing some schoolwork would cool his temper. Dripping his quill in ink, he began to scrawl on his parchment, barely reading the essay prompt. His handwriting was all over the place, his hand shaking, threatening to break the tip of his quill. If Toire figured out that he was a vampire, forget being friends. It would just be fear, like it was with Tori, all over again. [/blockquote][/blockquote]

Malachi really was starting to hate homework; it was funny how he ended up being in Ravenclaw. Well it was this year at least, he had been starting to realize it was his final year and life would begin for him. He knew him and his two older siblings would be out of this place but where would the three vampire siblings go to from there. Chi wanted to travel around and play music if that failed well he knew he could become someone in the ministry of magic or ask Jaxx for a job. He really started to here girls in the common’s room when they were awake talking about him being a vampire and he was starting to get a little annoyed at how they were reacting. They didn’t find it scary just being stupid little girls and their gossip. He figured some stupid girl was around when he was talking to Victorie. He focused back on the task at hand his homework. It was tough trying to get thru three weeks of work and not actually showing up for class. He was clever knew how to get out of things or talk his way through simple things. Rules for Chi were just something he never learned how to follow. His mother told him, he was just like his father back in the day. It was even down to the Ravenclaw house he was like his real dad. Though, when he asked around to professors that had been there for years they told him his dad was like a Quidditch star, well he was really good at Quidditch for his day. On the other hand Malachi was far from playing Quidditch he sucked at it. He learned the hard way when he was hit with one of the balls and he fell 50 feet and broke his arm. The only injury that he ever got in his life.
He sniffed the air smelling a very familiar scent in the air, it was Ben his friend. The two were defiantly different to meet the ends, but they were vampires and it was something Malachi needed was more vampire friends. Ben was more a typical Ravenclaw student usually caught up in homework and extracurricular activities outside of classes. Chi was the rebel he loves doing the opposite of everything. Though, he used to be always like the ravenclaw house but the perfect student. He was a prefect and sometimes his duties did get in the way of life. He looked at him oddly the blue eyes focused on the other vampire. “Hey Ben?” He said confused by we need to talk, was never a good way to enter a room. Though, of course the older vampire knew there had to be something wrong by just how his voice sounded and how he was kind of acting. He looked back down at his scroll and started writing again. “About what exactly?” He asked him glancing up from the scroll briefly before he went back down finishing what he was doing. The focus level for him was beyond what it was before he started the homework. It was when he figured out a little bit what Ben may have wanted to talk about. The broken rule Malachi managed to break. It wouldn’t have been the first time though he broke the rule with an ex-girlfriend.
“Um no, not really. I could use a break from the homework trust me.” He said setting down his quill and looking up watching him nervously. He couldn’t figure out what was going on with Ben till he started asking why he told her. He took a moment when he really figured out what he was saying. “It kind of slipped out… I mean she only knows I am a vampire it’s not like I told her about the rest of the vampires in school.” He said looking at him. He watched Ben sit down and started to do homework. He knew it was kind of the only way for him to calm down. “Honestly do you really think any one is going to take her serious?” he added after a moment.

Ben reached for a second scroll, sealing the first one with a smear of red wax. The writing was preoccupying him nicely. Who knows what he was writing about, something for Charms, right? Some advanced version of the accio spell, one that dealt with emotions and not just objects. Ben loved obscure studies, they thrilled him, but he was using just the minimal amount of his focus to write the essay, so he couldn’t enjoy it like a proper Ravenclaw. Speaking of which, Chi wasn’t the proper Ravenclaw at all. A rebel, definitely. Sure, he was clever, but he didn’t apply himself, and was content to play his music. Ben had to admit that he was good, and he understood why the perfect enjoyed it, but it wasn’t the conventional thing to do. And that was the point, he supposed. Just like with the drinking and the smoking. And the sneaking out of class to go to Jaxx’s bar. A rebel prefect. He snorted.
“You better damn know what I’m talking about, Chi,
” Ben growled. There was no one in the common room, but he didn’t want their voices to echo. That would be making an already terrible situation worse. He pressed down on the parchment a little too hard and the quill tip pierced through it. “ By the way, do you need any help with your homework? It looks like you got a pretty heavy burden.” Ben clicked his tongue. “ Wasn’t skipping class a big enough break for you?” He sometimes helped the older boy with his NEWTs and it was really fun, he liked the challenge. Sometimes he felt like the older one in the relationship, the more mature one. Chi didn’t really have a life plan besides travelling the world playing the guitar. Ben was ready to settle down and have a beautiful immortal family. He was used to taking care of people, being an involved big brother, and Chi was no exception. The seventh year looked nervous, and that made Ben oddly proud. That meant he was intimidating enough to scare the badass vampire that acted like he couldn’t give a shit. “ It kind of slipped out,” he repeated flatly. He could not see how that could happened. It’s not as if drinking blood and immortality came up in every conversation. Chi was a bit too proud of his vampire heritage sometimes, and he supposed that’s what happened. Maybe Toire was curious as to why he never slept, or something. He set his pen down on the parchment. “ Look, I’m trying to get to friends with Toire again and if she knows I’m a vampire she definitely won’t be my friend.” He hunched over his essay, reading it over with a quick but careful eye. He sighed, and remarked lightly, “ But hey, did I tell you that Tori agreed to be my girlfriend?” An unconscious smile spread across his face. [/blockquote][/blockquote]

Malachi tried not to pay attention to Ben; it was kind of hard though being in the same room and his friend. He was concerned for his friend, he would be honest he somewhat scared of ben, kind of a weird thing for the older student because of the fact he never feared anything before. Well Addison in his weird state of depression. He couldn’t tell if his brother was going to be fine or just going through a stage since his ex-girlfriends passing. He sat there with a quill writing his astronomy paper almost on the next scroll. Even though he was ditching class lately he had read all his books twice. Kind of cliché that he was a rebel and doing homework when he ditched class pretty much every day. He was pretty odd when it came to his homework. He would ask every once and awhile help from Ben to get caught up on things. He was starting to learn how to push limits on being prefect he knew most ravenclaws were starting to dislike him because he was the one who was the rebel. He started to think about his future more as they sat there doing homework, in his boredom was starting to get the better of him. He secretly wanted to actually see his real father one time. He knew that was forbidden for a turned vampire they gave up the rights to their mortal family.
“Ben calm down and relax god you really need to calm yourself on this matter.” He said growling at him. Never had Chi actually growled at anyone before. Well except a few times he got into fights with Addison, usually those ended pretty well. He watched Ben closely as he was a little paranoid that someone was going to come down on their conversation. He looked up seeing the scroll the other boy had went through the paper. He raised his eyebrow as he couldn’t believe how odd ben was acting this night. “No I really don’t.” He said when he was asked about getting help on his homework. It was something Malachi actually remembered from countless reading in Jaxx’s apartment. She was his get away from Hogwarts and the vampire life around school. Stuff he could talk to her and Quinn about came easier. “I took a break from class to actually go to Jaxx’s house to study. Kind of stupid I know but this place isn’t helping me much.” He said quietly setting his quill in the ink and looking at him. He knew for sure how ben would probably find this funny because no matter how much of a rebel Malachi seemed he still had his true Ravenclaw side showing every once and awhile. Which in that case it was rare moments for the prefect to even say he actually took off to go study at a house.
He closed his eyes briefly when he thought of every lie he could think of to tell Ben why he told her. He honestly really didn’t have to tell her much just cigarettes couldn’t kill him. “Funny story you see we were talking about me smoking, and she said that cigarettes would kill me… and I said they couldn’t kill me ‘cause I was already dead…. And well she figured it out on her own, then she just started to ask me a few questions about vampirism and we talked about her being part veela.” He said looking down at his paper realizing he did forget something to right, and quickly picked up his quill and began to right again. Sure Malachi was open about his vampirism, but he also didn’t always come out and say it. Only one time he did and that girl well… she moved far away just to be away from his crazy family as she put it. Chi knew he needed a vampire girlfriend just because it would be easier for him to actually be normal around and not act like something he’s not. He was pretty calm around most but his rebel side usually took over. He laughed a little feeling like a dork at that moment. He knew that Ben was trying to get back as friends with Torie, and in one night speaking about vampires Malachi managed to becomes with her. “Ben trust me, I wouldn’t tell her that you are a vampire. That’s up to you. Besides she won’t suspect a thing. You need to relax about it. I’ll take the fall if I have to. Have done it before I can do it again.” He said looking back down to his paper finishing up the scroll. He realized why he hated the scrolls they started to bore him even more. He stopped righting when he said that he got Tori to be his girlfriend. “You’re kidding me right?! That’s amazing!” He said happily he knew how much Ben liked Tori.

He nearly threw his complete essay, without any sort of revision, into his bag. He knew that it was good enough, and the professor adored him, so he wasn’t worried, even though he spent maybe five minutes on it. He would get the equivalent of an O, or at the very least, an E. He chuckled while he thought of the Ravenclaws that would spend an agonizing five hours on their homework. Being a vampire wasn’t easy, that was for sure, but there were definitely some merits. Sure, he was tortured with thirst about every three weeks, but he had better focus than anyone he knew, and it didn’t hurt that his senses were infallible. Closing his bag, he turned upon Malachi. He wasn’t seething with anger anymore, just feeling vaguely betrayed. It was already bad enough that the boy was going against the prefect stereotype, and to spill the secrets of vampire kind as well was kind of a big deal. Maybe Malachi was just a bit broken. He had never tried to discuss Chi’s human life with him, but for most vampires, it was a painful subject.
“I’m sorry but Christ, Malachi, Toire Weasley is one girl I will not see you tear apart.
” Chi had a bit of a reputation as a bad boy, and that really attracted girls to him. Ben’s whole nerdy thing was considered a complete turn off, so he was jealous that Chi got all this attention. Maybe he should just embrace the intrinsic danger of being a vampire and start being bad ass. Then maybe he would have more friends, and Tori would be proud to call him her boyfriend. Ben might have been acting strangely, but he just wanted to protect Toire from being caught up in his ancient dance of humanoid creatures. They had finally just started being friends after almost a year of extreme awkwardness, and he didn’t want to lose her as a friend again. “ You know, Chi, if you think this isn’t the right environment for you, I’m sure you had enough credits to graduate early,” Ben said more gently. He would miss Chi, but he didn’t want his friend to be unhappy at Hogwarts. Ben rested his head on his palms, and he sighed. “ You should really quit smoking, Chi.” Even though it would technically do the vampire no harm, it was still dangerous for the people living around him that were not already dead. “ And you know, there is a difference between being a vampire, who literally sucks the lifeblood out of humans, and being part-veela, who is just pretty.” Full veela were dangerous, of course, but part-veela were just a little more seductive than normal. Nothing harmful to the general population. He sighed again, slumping back even more in his chair. “ You know I trust you,” he said apologetically. “ I just overreacted, is all. I’m sorry.” He hoped that Chi would forgive him, because they did have a pretty good relationship. It was nice to be friends with someone that understood his hunger. He couldn’t help but bounce a little in his seat when Malachi said how proud he was of him. He felt a big, foolish grin spread across his face. “ Oh yeah really.” He furrowed his brow slightly at the thought of how Tori found out he was a vampire. That was exactly what he didn’t want to happen with him a Toire. “ She’s the only human that knows who I am,” he said in a lowered voice. Was it way over-dramatic? Yes. Was it painfully, achingly true? Yes. [/blockquote][/blockquote]

Part of Malachi wish he could be just like Ben, more of the Ravenclaw again. Though he knew there were other things that he was jealous of that Ben had. One of them was his family; he was born a vampire and had real parents. Though, no matter how grateful Chi was to his own family it was just the fact he didn’t have much memories of his mom and he really wanted to know who his father was. He sighed finishing another scroll wondering if it was worth it. He was getting to the point of his life he wanted to get a few questions answered. He slowly realized that his time at Hogwarts was ending soon and he would face the world out there. He looked over to his friend as he wrote his own paper and did his homework. He knew plenty of girls who would enjoy Ben a lot, Chi knew the reason why he had girls hanging around him sometimes was because he played guitar and well knew all the parties to get into. He looked up when Ben started speaking to him about Torie and ripping her apart. Chi didn’t really like to do that to anyone; sure he fed on humans when he needed to. Usually he would sneak into hospitals to get the blood he needed.
“Torie is a friend and I can’t see myself actually using her in that way. I mean I’ve found ways satisfy my thirst. Well sort of…” He said shrugging. It would probably be the first girl he didn’t actually see as a love interest or one night stands as he seemed to just be having those lately. He sighed a little before speaking again. “Ben have you ever wondered what your life would have been say if you were born a vampire?” He asked him curious was what he really was looking at. He knew it was kind of a dumb question to ask him but it was the fact Malachi wanted to know what an actual vampire thought about it. He leaned over grabbing some more scrolls to finish up the last bit of homework he had left. It was pretty easy for him to finish days of homework with in only hours when he was never affected by sleep. Malachi sighed a little as Ben started speaking again about him graduating early and not staying at Hogwarts. “I would but… I just can’t leave I mean come on Ben, I enjoy my friends here and it’s just a change of scenery once and awhile… I am so close to being done with this place. I think when I get out of here I may try to find my real father.” He said softly, though he didn’t know where to begin look for the person who actually walked out of his life when his mother gave birth to him. Chi had always wondered what his father was really like other than stories of him.
Chi laughed at the fact Ben told him to quit smoking; which, at this rate he was attempting to do. He really was trying to quit a habit he’s done since he was 15 years old. It was the probably the hardest thing he had done in years. “Yeah I know, I can say I have cut half of my smoking out since the school year begun. It’s a work in progress at least.” He said shrugging it off like it was no big deal. Inside though, he felt like his own body was cracking down when he didn’t smoke as much. He always felt like crap when it came down to not smoking. He kind of rolled his eyes at the fact Ben had a point, Chi knew that as well. They were really opposites, she was beautiful and seductive and Chi needed to have blood to survive. “I know it’s just one of those things she and I feel like out casts in this school. I know she’s only part Veela but she opened up a lot to me and she asked me a lot of questions.” He said shrugging a little. He knew it was an unspoken rule you don’t tell others about your vampire side. For him it was hard he wanted to at least have someone there that wasn’t a vampire. He had been holding a secret in since well forever and he finally got to tell someone else about. He knew that what Torie and he had was friendship, which they didn’t always understand each other. It wasn’t like the friendship Ben and Malachi had they were alike they understood deeply who they were as vampires and understood what they needed to survive. Chi smiled a little he could easily forgive Ben no matter what the case was. It was hard to keep a grudge on someone that he’s known for 6 years. That and it was something that he did. “I wouldn’t tell anyone about you, that’s left up for you to do.” He said shrugging. He knew ben wouldn’t tell anyone till it came to the right time for them. “It’s cool I forgive ya. You’re just watching out for the good of all us here.” He said smiling a little towards the younger vampire. He felt like a dork though because of how much he actually had done.
Chi could tell how happy Ben was about having Tori as his girlfriend. He hadn’t seen him this happy before about a girl for a long time. He knew he had a huge crush on the girl and he always thought the two make a cute couple. He was almost jealous that Ben was in a relationship and he wasn’t. Though, he knew that he really wasn’t interested in an actual relationship. “That’s exciting I am glad then you and her are finally together. I’ve always said you two make a great couple.” He said finishing up another scroll. “That’s always a good thing. As long as she knows who you are underneath your awesome nerdy vampire side.” He said happily.
