[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: dddddd; border: #cccccc solid 8px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] I WISH I COULD DANCE ON A SINGLE PRAYER The Words: 506 The Outfit: black robes The Notes first class! The OWL Transfiguration class was in the morning, right after breakfast. Conrad didn't mind teaching this early, usually students were more focused when they were full of cereal and pumpkin juice. They weren't tired and distracted, either, like during the afternoon classes, when freedom was almost in their little palms. In the morning, they were ready to work, especially the dedicated ones. He strolled through the ancient halls of Hogwarts. It even smelled like a new term, the tapestries freshly cleaned, and the floors gleaming with wax. He loved this place. He had never really left, landing a assistant teaching job right after he graduated, then was promoted to Transfiguration master after a few years. His latest position was Gryffindor Head of House, and it was the most convoluted job Conrad had encountered. It involved taking care of the kids in his house, which he already did. That was not the problem. The confusing part was the relationship he was supposed to have with the other Heads of Houses. They were competitive, but it seemed a bit like dog-fighting: they were just pitting the students against each other. Conrad was never a great politician, so he could never balance the love-hate relationship.
He walked into the classroom, which was big, with mahogany tables and a spacious desk for him. He placed his materials on the desk and took out the class roster. Interesting. He only had one student signed up for his class. He chuckled. Transfiguration was difficult, but he had never managed to scare off this many kids before. And of course it was Victoria Abercrombie. She was the little fifth-year workaholic, highly ambitious and quite bright. He just hoped that she didn't burn out before she graduated. Sometimes, especially when they were selecting classes that would be most suitable for her, he caught a glimpse of a manic gleam in her eyes that scared him. Of course, she would learn in this class, but it wouldn't be a class filled with meaningless essay and other such busywork. The homework would be simple, and sparse, but the classwork would be rigorous. It was fifth year, after all, when students had to seriously consider their future. He knew of Tori's ambition to be a Auror, and Transfiguration was one of the most important courses for that occupation. Settling down in the chair behind the desk, he clasped his hands together. He need to figure out something to teach today. Usually he planned out his lessons, but he didn't want something so confining if there was only one student.
He was a couple minutes early, and he didn't mind waiting. He was actually quite excited to see how effective and smoothly class was run with one student. He could tailor it to fit her, and she would get an Outstanding when the exams rolled around. But that felt so far away. It was still only the second day of term, and at this point, the year stretched out ahead of him like an ominous, but intriguing field. |

It wasn't much the waking up, it was that feeling you got when you just got out of bed. When you'd turn around and look at your unmade bed. It would practically scream your name and beg you to get tucked back in. Funnily enough, this morning she was up before her alarm went off. It made send to just get up and get ready. The temptation to go back to sleep was huge, but she managed to avoid getting back into the warmth. The gryffindor's uniform was neat and no creases existed on her shirt. It was defiantly a day she was going to be lazy, so she just tied her hair up in a dull ponytail and grabbed her bag.
For a while she sat in the common room, telling her friends about the two boys she was stuck between and they were all quiet impressed with who each boy was. Time went past quickly and soon enough it was time for Tori to get a movie on and start making her way to her transfiguration lesson. The blond had been revising and trying to study her notes, but it was difficult when you was as worn out as she was. Checking her wand was in her pocket, she started to make her way toward the classroom.
She decided not to rush to lesson, it wasn't like she was going to be late. Maybe just about on time, but not late. It took the gryffindor a few minutes to get to her destination and when she got there she looked into the classroom. Only the professor was in the classroom. Maybe she was actually early for once? She decided to take a seat in the front, so she seemed eager but didn't have to answer any questions. She didn't bother to great the professor, but just dropped her bag on the floor next to her desired seat. | [atrb=width,140] words ,

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: dddddd; border: #cccccc solid 8px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] I'M NOT LOOKING FOR SWEET TALK The Words: 446 The Outfit: black robes The Notes -- His only student walked into the class, and plopped her bag down by a desk in the front row. She was tired. Tori Abercrombie was usually tired from her nights in studying. But the way she gingerly held her head and the bags under her eyes were not there last year. Last year she seemed at least somewhat invigorated by his class, and learning in general. He wondered is his prediction that she would burn out had already come true. And if he could rely on what was said in the halls by the gossipy and malicious Slytherin girls, she was doing more than just studying in the nights. Of course, that was not uncommon in a boarding school. He knew of a lot of alcohol abuse in his house, but he felt that if by admitting to the headmaster he was also admitting to the other Heads of Houses that Gryffindor was inferior to them. If they could keep quiet about the drunks in their house, so could be. He looked at Tori carefully. She might have been hungover. He felt very offended. Why show up if she was just going to sit there and cradle her head. Sure, when he was in his fifth year, he had snuck out with friends occasionally, but never on a school night. It was possible to have fun without drinking.
He rose from his seat, and walked toward her. "Good morning, Tori," he said rather sharply, watching vigilantly for a response. Not just in her speech, but the way she reacted to the words. If she clutched her head, she was going to the hospital wing. If she simply nodded and responded, she could stay. "As you may or may not be aware, you are the only one signed up for this class this term. I look forward to our classes together." That sounded a little weird, but there was no changing his words now. He took her textbook, Intermediate Magic from her desk. He soundlessly transformed the book into a solid piece of slate. "Your job this lesson is to change back your book. If you are unsuccessful, you may work on it for homework. I will be right here, you may ask for help. Extra copies of the book are in the back cupboard," he gestured. She was in fifth year, and there was no one to help her figure this out. He sat back behind his desk. If she had reviewed at all this summer, this should present no problem. She was a bright kid. She'd manage. He leaned back and smiled. This wouldn't be so bad. |

Mornings. They were awful. Hype was far more into evenings and nights. Lunchtime too. Breakfast was okay, probably the only saving grace that mornings had! Still, the only real problem with mornings was waking up. Once you were woken, and had food in your belly, you really couldn't complain too much. Or at least, Hyperion couldn't. He had eaten two waffles, four patties of sausage, and still managed to down three glasses of orange juice. Maybe it was the werewolf in him, or maybe it was just the fact that he was a growing boy, but he was just hungry all the time!
He grabbed an apple and munched on it as he made his way to class. Transfiguration first thing in the morning. Not his preference, but Hype had never been the kind to roll over at the smallest of difficulties he faced! Oh no, he hit them head on and charged right in! And then he told all his friends about it and suggested they do the same. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. Either way, he kept a positive outlook on life and a nifty little spring in his step!
He reached the classroom and strode right in, looking from the only student in the class to the professor and back again. "Class started?" he asked with a mouthful of apple. He hadn't realized he was at all late, but then, he really hadn't known the official time of the class. Or maybe he had just spent too much time eating breakfast to get there on time? Either way, the professor looked entirely focused on the singular other student. Maybe because she was a Gryffindor? Professor Kent was the Gryffindor Head of House.
Maybe! Maybe he had started early to give his Gryffindor student a head start! Now that was just cheating. But it was difficult to pout too much as you swallowed your apple. Hype took a seat and pulled out his book, "So...are we learning something new?" he asked, trying to figure out just how to manage a professor who apparently focused on his own house. That was the sort of thing usually expected of Slytherin, wasn't it?

Post by CARYS TEGWEN MACMILLAN on Jun 29, 2011 15:28:10 GMT -5
Carys was entirely a morning person. She got up early and went to bed before sunset, on the days that she could. It was just in her nature to get her day started as quickly as possible, and to put her best foot forward! She showered quickly, humming to herself, brushed her hair, put on her very well kept Hufflepuff robes, and gathered her things. Wand was important, so were textbooks. Also the various few Transfiguration supplies she had been recommended to pick up just for this class. She packed them all neatly away into her bag, and then headed to breakfast.
Breakfast with Carys was neat and orderly. Everything had its place. She ate a healthy meal, careful to keep good nutrition for better physical appearance! Fruits, veggies, meat, dairy, all the proper food groups were represented. It was a hard thing to do at Hogwarts, while still being quite easy. She had long ago learned about the house elves and had even spoken to them on a few occasions, always polite and respectful as she would be to anyone. House elves were always happy to please, so after her first meeting or so her food had been a bit healthier than the rest, if not a bit more tidy!
Once her breakfast was finished, she picked up her bag and happily went to class. When she arrived she paused in the doorway, noting the individuals there already. Professor Kent was there, as well as Hyperion and Victoria Abercrombie. Carys pursed her lips, she was not accustomed to being late. It didn't look good for her father for his daughter to be late to class. Then again, she wasn't officially signed up yet, so she was only late by her standards. And possibly Professor Kent's, if he was in the mindset to hold a grudge against a new student. Not that she was by any means new.
Smiling, she walked forward with the familiar pep in her step to Professor Kent's desk, "My apologies for being late, Professor. I was hoping to sign up for Transfiguration. I'm afraid there was some mix up with the paperwork which left me otherwise not enrolled in Transfiguration," she said simply. Carys wanted to keep her education on the highest of wizarding standards. She still didn't know where she was going to end up after these next three years, but surely it would be best if she took all the basic classes she could. And though Transfiguration was fairly advanced in the fifth year, it was still rather a rather basic magic.

SHIT! the girl raced to her dresser and grabbed her wrinkled robes. she pined her prefect badge over the crest and quickly brushed her hair. today was not going to be a good day. after she got her blond hair into a stable condition she tied it up in a messy top knot. she grabbed her bag, which was slung over her chair, and packed it with her first lesson's equipment. after feeding her constantly meowing cat she rushed out of her dorm room. many of the hufflepuff students that were in the common room at this hour gave the rushing girl sideways glances. she shrugged and climbed out of the picture's hole. after muttering her good morning to the painting and a quick fix of her hair, carleigh rushed up the stairs to the ground floor. she slowed her pace to a walk. once she reached the great hall, she stopped to say hello to her fellow house mates. carleigh took a seat at the end of the hufflepuff table and grabbed a piece of toast. after smothering the toast with jam she talked to her house mates around her.
some time has passed
carleigh had finished her slices of toast and the stack of pancakes. she nodded and said her goodbyes and got up. she looked at her robes, they were wrinkled. she shrugged and tried to smooth out the robes. it didn’t work but carleigh didn’t care. her slender fingers grasped the strap of her bag and slung it around her shoulder. with a slight bounce in her step, carleigh rushed to her first class, Transfiguration.
the corridor was empty except from a few students wandering to breakfast. carleigh approached the door to the Transfiguration Classroom. she knocked her knuckles against the wood and reached for the door knob. with a swift turn of the door knob carleigh was in the almost empty room. she nodded towards the professor who was talking to another student. carleigh made her way to the corner of the classroom. she sat down in the wooden chair and placed her quill, ink pot, parchment and textbook for this lesson on her desk and waited for the lesson to begin. her blue eyes flickered around the room. to her surprise she found two other hufflepuff students waiting for the class to begin. she flashed them both a smile as she slouched in the hard, wooden chair. notes // >.> eh it’ll do. |

Post by JAKOBY LOGAN D'EATH on Jul 11, 2011 12:37:26 GMT -5
Jakoby awoke to his alarm screeching in his ears early that morning. Letting out a sigh, he sat up in bed, hitting the off button on the alarm quickly. Debating on whether to sleep for "five more minutes" or to just get up was tough, but he finally decided to just get ready. Swinging his legs over the side of the bed, he stood up and went to get ready quickly. Pulling on his Gryffingor robes, he ran his hands over them quickly before grabbing everything he needed for his first class. Wand, textbooks, writing supplies, and a few things that were needed specially for transfiguration. Stuffing everything into his bag, he headed out of his room and faced his next challenge of the day. Feeding. For some reason, he didn't feel like going through the hassle of biting someone first thing in the morning.
Strolling down the hall, he decided to just go to the hospital wing. He knew that they had plenty of blood, and that if you needed it, and asked nicely enough, they would give you some. That's what his brother always did. So he figured it couldn't hurt if he did it once too. Getting down to the hospital wing, he drank all he needed and turned to leave. Licking his lips quickly, he walked back down the hall he had just come up a few minutes before. Looking at the time, he realized that if he didn't start heading to transfiguration quickly he would be late. And he didn't want to be late on his first day of class. That certainly wouldn't look good now would it?
Jakoby walked a bit faster, praying that he would get there on time. Finally, after what seemed like eternities to him, he showed up at the class. There were already four other kids there, so he thought he must be late. Sighing, he bit his lower lip lightly, walking over to the professor's desk. He knew Professor Kent a bit already, since he was the head of house. Looking down at the floor, he talked very quietly, as if he was afraid to speak at all. "Um..sorry I'm late professor." he said quickly, glancing up at him quickly before walking over to one of the seats. He pulled out his textbook quickly, hoping he hadn't missed too much of the class already.
